The basics
What Is a Balloon Garland?
A garland is a bendable rope of balloon clusters that can follow almost any edge in a room.
Picture a long chain of balloon clusters built on a strip, flexible enough to curve wherever you need it. It can climb a door frame, drape across a mantel, trail down a stair rail, frame a cake table or sweep over a backdrop. Put it on a frame and it's a balloon arch; bend it into a ring and it's a hoop. That range is why garlands are the piece Denver hosts book most for parties at home.
Because garlands are priced by the foot, budgeting is easy. Measure the mantel, door or table, multiply, and you'll have a ballpark before you ever ask us for a quote.
Organic vs. classic
Organic Balloon Garlands vs. Classic Garlands
Nearly every garland we build now is organic. Here's what the word means and when classic is still the right call.
What does organic balloon garland mean?
Organic means the balloon sizes are mixed on purpose: tiny 5-inch fillers, everyday 11-inch, and oversized 17- to 24-inch balloons, grouped in uneven clusters so the garland looks like it grew that way. It has highs and lows, texture and shadow, and on camera it reads as a design piece rather than something from a party aisle.
Organic vs. regular balloon garlands: what's the difference?
A regular, or classic, garland repeats one cluster of same-size balloons over and over, so it forms a neat rope or spiral. It's tidy, even and lighter on balloons. Organic is looser and fuller and uses more balloons per foot. Classic suits school colors, team colors and crisp office looks; organic suits showers, weddings, birthdays and anything built for photos.
Balloon garland clusters and accents
Each garland is made of small clusters of three or four balloons. What you tuck between them sets the style: chrome or pearl balloons, double-stuffed balloons in custom shades, foil stars and hearts, confetti balloons, dried florals or a few sprigs of greenery.

Placement
Where Balloon Garlands Work Best
If something can be hung from it or laid along it, a garland can probably go there.
Doorways and front doors
Over or around a front door, a patio slider or a venue entry, so guests know they've found the right place.
Fireplace mantels
The quickest way to dress a living room for a birthday, a shower or the holidays, especially on a stone or brick fireplace.
Staircases and railings
Running down the banister for a grand entrance at sweet 16s, quinceañeras and engagement parties.
Cake, dessert and gift tables
Draped along the front edge or laid down the middle as a runner, so the cake gets a frame in every photo.
Backdrops and shimmer walls
A garland sweeping over a panel, shimmer wall or flower wall is the photo spot hosts ask us for most.
Basement bars and rec rooms
Plenty of metro homes host the party downstairs. A garland over the bar or the TV wall makes a finished basement feel like a venue.
Marquee letters and numbers
Wrapped around light-up letters or numbers to spell an age, a name or a class year.
Storefronts and offices
Across a shop window or a reception desk for openings, sales events and team celebrations.
Sizing
Choosing a Garland Length That Fits
Measure the spot, then add a bit. Garlands look best when they spill past the edges instead of stopping short.
| Length | Fits | Organic balloons (approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| 5–6 ft | Cake table, small mantel, one wall accent | 60–110 |
| 8 ft | A 6 ft table with overhang, a full mantel | 100–145 |
| 10 ft | A single doorway or a 7 ft backdrop | 120–180 |
| 12–15 ft | Double doors, a backdrop combo, a long buffet | 150–270 |
| 20 ft and up | Stair rails, long walls, stages, a full arch | 240–360+ |
Organic garlands use about 12–18 balloons per foot, so counts are estimates. Larger balloons and fuller designs change the number.
How many balloons does a 20-foot garland need? Roughly 240–360 when it's organic. Build the same length as a classic garland of 11-inch balloons and it takes closer to 100–130.
Styles
Finishing Touches: Florals, Pearl, Chrome and Mini Garlands
Start with the garland, then finish it in a way that's yours.
Balloon garlands with flowers and greenery
Silk blooms, eucalyptus, ferns, dried grasses or pampas tucked between clusters push a garland toward a floral installation. Bridal showers, baptisms, garden parties and fall gatherings in golden-aspen tones use this finish most.
Pearl, chrome and metallic garlands
Pearl latex has a soft glow; chrome is mirror-bright in gold, silver, rose gold and champagne. Scatter a few through each cluster and the whole garland looks more expensive. Full-chrome garlands are a New Year's Eve and golden-anniversary favorite.
Mini and small balloon garlands
Mini garlands are built mostly from 5-inch balloons, so they stay delicate. Use one on a cake table, around a highchair for a first birthday, over a mirror or on a bookshelf in a condo where space is short.
Hanging and ceiling garlands
Garlands can go overhead too, swagged across a ceiling, above a dance floor or along the beams of a barn or brewery. Because those are rigged to the building, we plan them as custom balloon installations.
Pricing
What Does a Balloon Garland Cost in Denver?
Every garland is priced by the foot. Here's where ours start and what pushes the number up.
| Garland | Starting at |
|---|---|
| Accent garland (lighter, fewer large balloons) | $20 per foot |
| Standard organic garland | $28 per foot |
| Deluxe garland (fuller, chrome, foil and florals) | $38 per foot |
| Grab-and-go garland, 5 ft (you pick up and hang) | $95 |
| Grab-and-go garland, 8 ft | $145 |
Installed garlands have an 8 ft minimum and include delivery and hanging within about 30 miles of downtown Denver.
How much do balloon garlands usually cost? For ours, length sets the base, and the rest comes from how full it is, how many large, chrome or double-stuffed balloons it carries, florals and foil accents, whether we hang it or you pick it up, and the drive. A 10 ft standard organic garland installed at your home starts around $280, and your quote is written for your exact event.
Your options
Grab-and-Go Garlands vs. Installed Garlands
Both work. The right one depends on length and how much setup you want to do.
| Grab-and-go | Installed | |
|---|---|---|
| What you get | A finished garland you collect and hang | We bring it and hang it on-site |
| Best length | 5–8 ft | Any length, 20 ft and beyond |
| Hanging | Your hooks, ribbon or command strips | Our frames, weights and hardware |
| Good for | Tables, small walls, last-minute plans | Doors, staircases, backdrops, venues |
What is a grab-and-go balloon garland? A garland we finish ahead of time, usually 5 to 8 feet, that you collect and hang yourself. It's the budget pick for small spaces. Past about 8 feet a garland won't ride safely in most cars, and on a hot day a closed car is rough on latex, so longer runs are installed.

Timing
Garland Life Span and How Far Ahead We Can Build
Indoors, an air-filled garland keeps for days, so timing is rarely a problem.
How long will balloon garlands last? Indoors and air-filled, several days and often a week or more before the balloons start to soften. Outdoors in shade, about a day. In direct summer sun at a mile high, plan on a few hours before the latex clouds over, fades and starts popping.
How early can a balloon garland be made? For an indoor party, a day or two ahead with no visible difference. Most people have us hang it the evening before or the morning of. Outdoor summer garlands should go up the same day, as close to the start as we can schedule.

Questions
Balloon Garlands in Denver: FAQ
What is a balloon garland?
A flexible chain of balloon clusters that can hang over a door, run along a mantel or staircase, drape across a table or frame a backdrop. Mounted on a frame, a garland becomes a balloon arch.
How much do balloon garlands usually cost?
Ours are priced by the foot: installed garlands start at $20 per foot for an accent garland and $28 per foot for a standard organic garland, with an 8 ft minimum. Grab-and-go garlands start at $95.
How long will balloon garlands last?
Indoors and air-filled, several days and frequently a week or longer. Outside in shade, roughly a day. In strong Denver summer sun, a few hours.
How many balloons does a 20-foot garland need?
Roughly 240–360 in an organic style, at 12–18 balloons per foot. A classic garland of 11-inch balloons needs about 100–130 for the same length.
How is an organic garland different from a regular balloon garland?
Organic mixes balloon sizes in uneven clusters for a full, textured look. Regular, or classic, repeats same-size clusters in a tight pattern and uses fewer balloons.
How far ahead can you make a balloon garland?
One to two days ahead for indoor events. Outdoor garlands in summer should be hung the day of the party.
What is a fair price for a balloon arch?
For our arches, a 6.5–7 ft frame arch starts at $245 and a full 16–20 ft arch at $495, delivered and installed near Denver. Garland length, style and add-ons set the rest.
Will hanging a garland damage my walls?
Yes. We use freestanding frames, tension rods, removable hooks or existing fixtures instead of tape that lifts paint. Hotels and event venues usually ban tape, so frames are standard there.
Are balloon garlands still in style?
Yes. Organic garlands with mixed sizes, florals and chrome accents are still the go-to for showers, weddings, birthdays and holidays. The shift lately is toward softer, earthier palettes and more texture.
What are some alternatives to a balloon garland?
Fabric draping, a paper flower wall, a greenery garland or a shimmer wall. Plenty of hosts combine a shimmer or flower wall with a short balloon garland.
